   EWELL, GEN. BENJAMIN STODDERT, born in Washington, D.C., June 10,
   1810. Graduated at West Point in 1832. Served as professor of
   mathematics till 1836. President of College of William and Mary, 1854.
   Served throughout the war in the Confederate army, and again became
   president of William and Mary College.
