CHRISTOPHER COLON, born in New York in 1821. Graduated at West Point in 1843. Served in the Mexican war and on the frontier. Commissioned brigadier-general of volunteers, November, 1861. Fought at Cedar Mountain, and commanded at the siege of Fort Hudson. Brevetted major-general, March 13, 1865. Subsequently commanded in various departments, and was retired under the rules for age, in 1885.
