CHARLES HALE, born in State of New York November 6, 1834. Graduated at West Point 1857. Took part in the Utah expedition 1859. Chief of artillery 2d corps of Army of Potomac, and fought through Peninsula campaign. Brevetted brigadier in regular army March, 1865, and made full brigadier in May. Died in California December 20, 1875.
