BUSHROD R., born in Ohio, October 7, 1817. Graduated at West Point 1840. Served in Seminole and Mexican wars. Superintendent of Military Institute of Kentucky. Entered Confederate service 1861. Taken prisoner at Fort Donelson. Commanded a division at Chattanooga. Made major-general in 1864. Chancellor of University of Nashville. Died September 11, 1880.
