   MORGAN, GEN JOHN TYLER, born in Tennessee June 20, 1824. Admitted to
   bar. Entered Confederate service 1861. Commanded a regiment in
   Alabama. Commissioned a brigadier in 1863, and commanded a division
   under Longstreet, Johnston, and Hood. Elected to U.S. Senate 1877,
   1883, 1889.
