POWELL was notified of the death of her mother at Alexandria, Louisiana. Mrs. WALTER R. MILLER, age 59, died suddenly this morning. At the time of her death, Mrs. Miller was visiting her daughter Mrs. AUBREY WHITE at Alexandria. Mrs. Miller had visited Mrs. Powell here frequently and was well known. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Powell, Mrs. White and Mrs. J. A. MCMAIN of Monterrey, Mexico. Services will be held at Monterrey Saturday. Huge Lemon A lemon weighing 3-1/2 pounds, grown in the Yuma Valley, Arizona, is on display in the Times-Democrat office window. It was brought here by J. W. ROSE. ADREAN C. FERGESON 36 and Mrs. MAUD CLEAMONS of Dallas. Rites for Pioneer Davis Resident Funeral services for IKE ADLER, 72 years old, pioneer Davis resident, were held in Oklahoma City. He died Thursday morning in an Oklahoma City hospital. Adler had been under treatment at the hospital for ten days suffering from heart ailment. He had been a resident of Davis for 40 years, engaged in various businesses, including mercantile, cotton buying, insurance, real estate and account. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Miss CORRINE ADLER of Stillwater; three sons MELVIN ADLER and SEYMOUR ADLER both of Fort Worth, Texas and GERALD ADLER of Oklahoma City and two sisters, Mrs. BELLA MORITZ of Long Beach, California and Miss MINNIE ADLER of Davis. Legion Members Dies at Sulphur Veterans Hospital HAROLD W. DANIELS, 44 year old American Legion member, a patient at the Veterans Hospital, died early Wednesday morning of a heart ailment. Daniels was admitted as an emergency patient. Daniels was unmarried. Relatives, including his sister Mrs. FLORA FARMER, live at Laverne. His sister was unable to attend the funeral held this afternoon at the Dunn funeral home chapel with Rev. ROBERT S. SCALES of the First Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were members of the Sulphur American Legion post and interment was in the American Legion plot at Oaklawn. Services for Mill Creek Child Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for JACKIE PRESTON EASLEY, age 5, who lived 8 miles west of Mill Creek, from diphtheria. The child was born November 7, 1934 in Murray County. Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. EASLEY, and two sisters PAULINE and BEATRICE LORENE. Burial was in Drake cemetery following services at Mill Creek, arranged by Dunn funeral home. Dies at Home LUTHER E. WHALIN, age 75, a resident of Sulphur for more than 20 years, died at his home on E. Muskogee Ave. Saturday. Whalin was born October 11, 1864 in Warren County, Kentucky and spent his early life at Harrison, Arkansas. He married ELLA WALKER in 1896 and the family moved to Sulphur in 1918. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ella Whalin, two sons, ERNEST WHALIN and TROY WHALIN, all of Sulphur; and one daughter Mrs. RHODA GOODWIN of Springfield, Illinois and 11 grandchildren. Burial in the Palmer cemetery was arranged by Dunn funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. ORVILLE VINEYARD of 908 W. Broadway, announce the birth of a son. Thursday, January 11, 1940 Rancher Found Dead Near Home H. H. THOMPSON, age 57, prominent Johnston County rancher, was found dead Wednesday afternoon about 1 ½ miles from his home after an all day search by 200 men from Mill Creek, Sulphur and Madill. He lived about 8 miles east of Sulphur. The coroner reported a heart attack . Thompson went to Oklahoma City Tuesday and was supposed to have returned by Tuesday night, but failed to return. When his car was found stalled in snow Wednesday morning about 3 miles from his ranch house, the search began. . Survivors include his wife, Mrs. DOROTHY MAE THOMPSON, son OLLIE THOMPSON of Shawnee, daughter MARGARET THOMPSON of Ardmore, sister Mrs. MYRTLE HOWARD of Woodville, and stepdaughter MILDRED LITTLETON of the home address. Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at the Thompson ranch home and burial on the ranch arranged by Dunn funeral home. Marriage Licenses H. G. A .ROBERTS, age 62, of Oklahoma City, brother-in-law of Mrs. EARL MASTERS of Sulphur, died Wednesday in Oklahoma. Roberts, an employee of the Southwestern Oil Mill Co. for years, suddenly became ill Sunday. Brother Dies Mrs. HARRISON DUKE of Sulphur was notified of the death of her brother, BOB PRATT, age 82, of Abilene, Texas who died suddenly Thursday night. Pratt visited here in October and November. Services were held Saturday at Abilene. Mrs. Duke was unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. KIRBY of Hickory announce the birth of a daughter born Friday morning at the Rose clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Q. M. HIGHTOWER announced the birth of a son born Friday in an Ardmore hospital. He is county administrative assistant in the AAA program. Services for Kennedy Girl Funeral services were held last Thursday for OLETA KENNEDY, age 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. KENNEDY of 1224 West Ardmore Ave. She died Wednesday night from typhoid fever. Oleta was born February 10, 1932 in Sulphur. Services were the Dunn funeral home chapel with Rev. DWIGHT O. American Legion A list of 12 members of the American Legion in Sulphur who have been members continuously for 20 years was released by OSCAR YOUNG, county commander: HOLMES H. COLBERT, ADDISON WALKER, ROBERT MILLER, JOE B. SLOVER, EARL MCELWEE, COLLIE JAMES, PAUL W. REED, CHARLES HARDIN, HARRY KELLY, EUGENE FRIER, JOHN C. POWELL and DAVID J. WENNER. Mrs. Ross Dies Mrs. MARY POOL ROSS, age 74, of Pauls Valley died in a Pauls Valley hospital Friday followed by a paralytic stroke the previous week. Mrs. Ross had been a continuous resident of Murray County since 1892 and had only recently moved to Pauls Valley. Survivors include her husband, J. E ROSS; four sons, H. C. POOL of Lubbock, Texas, T. W. POOL of Claremore, T. W. POOL of Purcell, and R. L. POOL of Biloxi, Mississippi; a sister Mrs. R. T. SHEEGOG of Sulphur, three brothers, J. T. POLK of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Dr. R. POLK of Alex and H. J. POLK of McAllen, Texas; and four grandchildren including THADA LEE POOL of Sulphur. Dunn funeral home had charge of services Saturday here at the Nazarene church. Pioneer Dies THOMAS ROBERT ROSS, age 64, pioneer resident of Sulphur, died at his home, 308 E. Tahlequah, at noon Friday. Ross had been ill since last May. Ross was born May 15, 1875 in Dallas County, Texas and spent his early life in Texas. At age of 21, Ross came to Oklahoma and resided in Sulphur for 30 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; four sons, TOMMY, JOHNNY, GRADY and GEORGE, all of Sulphur; five daughters, Mesdames NETTIE KING of Verden, RUBY MCKEE of Chickasha, MYRTLE FOX of Stratford, ATHALENE FROST of Dougherty and NELLIE FAY TANKERSLEY of Sulphur. Funeral services were at the Dunn funeral home chapel Saturday afternoon with Rev. ROBERT S. SCALES of the First Baptist Church officiating with interment at Oaklawn cemetery.
