R. KOLLER, a prominent farmer who lives north of town, has recently completed a modern dwelling on his farm. Mr. Koller was formerly cotton weigher of Murray County. The Koller school house that was destroyed in a windstorm two months ago, has been rebuilt and the first meeting held in it last Sunday was the interest of the Fourth Liberty Loan. The seventh victim among the Murray County soldiers is HESTEL JONES who died at Camp Dix, New Jersey Wednesday of Spanish influenza. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. JONES, who live near Davis. He was sent to Camp Cody on June 26th with the regular June contingent. FRANK ROGERS and MISS PEARL BRUBAKER, both of Davis, were married at the Baptist parsonage in Sulphur last week. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. V. BRUBAKER, formerly residents of Sulphur who now live at Davis. The groom is a young business man of Davis. They will make their home in Davis. The Dougherty public school opened last week with THOMAS MCGIBORY, county superintendent as principal. He will be assisted by MRS. LOUIS ANDERSON of Sulphur and MISS MADELINE CHAMBLISS of Davis. C. W CALLARMAN of Stillwater, federal agricultural agent for this district, spent the past week in Murray County assisting A. J. STEVENS, county agent. Sulphur has not had a real serious case of influenza to date, but every precaution is being taken by the public health authorities to prevent the contagion. R. C. ROSS of Scullin was a business visitor here. O. Z. SHERPERNS returned Friday from Durant where he has been employed at the state normal. Part of the big HASSEN office building which is being erected on the corner of the burned area of Sulphur's business district, will be ready for occupancy this week. LIEUT. L. W. WHITE of K Company, National Guard of Oklahoma, who has been over the state lecturing for the past few weeks returned Friday. Lieut. White organized the national guard unit here. The City of Sulphur is having plans made for a new power house building at the pump station. Since the death-dealing epidemic of Spanish influenza has struck the military camps, and a number of Sulphur boys have been victims, the Relief Society of Murray County has been unusually busy, caring for the needs and expressing sympathy and tendering aid to the families of the soldier boys affected. The Relief Society is composed of : MRS. J. M. ECHOLS, MS. H. GAFFORD, JNO. A. HASTE, and FRED GAFORD. They have visited every family that has lost a boy in the military. They report that seven Murray County boys have died in the service, two of whom were killed in action in France and five died of influenza in the various camps. A delightful party was given on Thursday afternoon by MESDAMES REX CHANEY and T. P. GIACOMINI in honor of MRS. H. S. NEAL of San Francisco, formerly of Sulphur and MRS. R. S GOFFE who will soon leave this city to make her home with her mother while Mr. Goffe joins Uncle Sam's forces in France. After four hands at auction bridge, a two course luncheon was served and favors given to the honor guests. Those present: MESDAMES C. M. MAYS, J. H. CASTEEL, R. S ROSS, W. O. BOURLAND, FRANK LEWIS, E. T WHITE, A. D. NOWLES, SAM HAPGOOD, HUGH CUSHENBERRY, G. W STEVENSON, RALPH RAWLINGS, U. K, KENNEDY, WILLIAM WALTERS, MISS UNA ROBERTS MISS MYRTLE MASTERS. MRS. J. C BOSWELL and MRS. E. BRIGHT returned Thursday after a visit with relatives in Oklahoma City. MISS ROBBIE ESTES has returned home from Roff, where the schools have been closed on account of Spanish influenza. REV. D. V. YORK, D. D., of the West Oklahoma Conference is visiting his daughter MRS. W. G. LONG. WILLIAM WALTERS has been transferred to Holdenville as freight agent for the Frisco. Mr. Walters has been depot agent at Sulphur for a number of years. MISS LOIS SLOVER has resigned her position on the high school faculty and accepted a position at the high school. MISS BARBARA WEAVER of Oklahoma City has accepted a place on the high school faculty to succeed Miss Lois Slover. A. COOPER of Burden, Kansas who recently bought the Sulphur Telephone Exchange, has been in city looking over the properties.
