I would say it was published between 1999 and 2004. "100 YEARS AGO: 'Some day our town will lay an 8 or 10 inch water main from Turner Falls and we will have the completest and most cheaply operated system in the B. I. T. (Bureay of Indian Territory). It won't take so terrible much to construct such a water system, and it will give us pure water, good fire protection and reduce insurance so much as to pay for itself in a few years,' editor Fay CROSSETT said. 'At its present rate of growth Davis will soon be ready for a street car line and the man who invests in it can double his earnings by extending the line to Sulphur,' CROSSETT said. 'It has rained a great deal the past week and streams are up and in some places roads are impassable. The road to Sulphur is in a fearful condition. A telephone from Sulphur this morning says the creek is so high that buggies and wagons can't cross it,' CROSSETT said. Davis had the following doctors listed in 'card ads' in the Weekly News: L. M. KENNEDY, Dentist; Dr. N. L. HALE, dentist; Dr. Tom WALKER, physician and surgeon; Geo. J. WILSON, physician, surgeon, accoucher; Dr. J. C. LUSTER, physician; A. P. Brown, physician and surgeron; J. W. Jones, physician and surgeon; Dr. W. F. HAYNES, physician and surgeon. And these attorneys: T. D. MONROE; J. P. LOCKWOOD and U. B. ROGERS; H. W. FIELDING and Geo. L. REESE, and L. L. BLACKBURN." Typed exactly as spelled and as printed with the exception of capitalization of surnames. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Murray County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/murray/murray.htm
