What the Sulphur Editor See and Hears in Our City. The following is the write up of the editor of the Sulphur Headlight upon his first visit to our town last week. A VISIT TO DAVIS: Monday last, Mr. BONNEAU and myself visited Davis. Having never seen Davis before I was anxious to see it. I found a delightful farming country between Sulphur and Davis. The crops (although the land is excellent) are rather poor. Corn, oats and wheat is fair; cotton is very poor owing to the drouth. We found Davis to be a growing town with about 1,500 population, with many substantial buildings and several new buildings in course of construction. At all but one (business) house did we find anything to indicate a sentiment against our beautiful little town, and that gentleman said he did not want Sulphur to grow, it might injure Davis, but we hardly think he was in earnest. Davis has the advantage of us in a railroad, but we have the advantage of Davis in life-giving water, and we think we have chosen the good part that will not be taken from us, and in the near future the other will come. Oklahoma's population is 350,000 ---- larger than Delaware, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Utah or Wyoming. Poles have been placed in Davis for the long distance telephone line. They will have the wire strung from the south by next week. The booth will be placed in the City Drug Store. The Dougherty Leader has changed hands again. Sam C. TIMMONS having transferred it to Will L. WILSON and gone to Kansas to live. Messrs. Z. T. COOPER & Son will open a general merchandise store in a day or two in their new building. They are having new shelving, counters, etc. put in now and when completed will have an attractive store. The News welcomes them to commercial circles in Davis and hopes their business will prove a successful venture. MURRAYFOOTER
