Mr. Barwis has been a citizen of this city for many years and enjoys the confidence and good will of all Davisites. Mrs. Barwis is an estimable lady of Dougherty and has a large circle of friends there. She is the daughter of Postmaster BENNETT of Dougherty. The couple will make Davis their home. C. C. ESTES Announces for Sheriff MR. ESTES is one of the old timers here, having come to this section from Cooke County, Texas in 1902 and lived in Davis until 1921 when he moved to Sulphur to take up his duties as county weigher. Hennepin Items MRS. W. F. MCNEILL returned from Drumright where she visited her brother, HENRY LINDSAY. MRS. J. E. WINGO was a Pauls Valley visitor last week. The band boys went to Alpers Thursday night, making music for the school meeting. Hennepin is working for an “Union Graded High School.” MISS VIRGIE CLARK and LESTER CLARK of Wilson visited MISS JESSIE MCNEILL Sunday. Hennepin basketball girls went to Alpers Tuesday and played a matched game. Alpers won 14 to 10. MARK FOSTER is confined with measles. Mr. and Mrs. JOE B. POE have moved to Milo. MASON HART, county superintendent, was here last Tuesday in the interest of our union graded high school. H. G. LOONEY has his new store building completed and will move his stock of goods this week. A number of Lawton boys stopped over Friday night for the young folks' entertainment. They were on their way home from the Democratic convention held at Sulphur. Among them was REV. SAULTER's son. The girls were defeated by two scores but the boys were defeated by a larger number. ROY HUNTER and BILL WEST made a business trip to Duncan Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. JIM PRUITT and sons, ED and BILL, spent last week in Wynnewood at the bedside of their only daughter, MRS. LAD SHOEMAKER who died at 10:00. She is survived by a husband and one child. She was known in Dougherty and leaves many friends who extend their sympathy to the grieved ones. MRS. JACK WOODS was shopping in Davis Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. BILL WEST of Purcell are visiting relatives here. MRS. C. W. HOUSOUER left Wednesday for Kansas City where her husband is in the sanitarium. CLARENCE and WILLIE GARDENHIRE left for their home in Texas after an extended visit with their brother GEORGE who has been seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. GRIFFIN made a business trip to Oklahoma City last week. MRS. P. C. HOLDSCLAW returned to her home in Sulphur. MRS. ROY HUNTER has been visiting her sister, MRS. CHAMBLESS who lives near Davis. J. J. HODGES was in Sulphur to referee a game between Price Chapel and the second team of O. S. D. MISS VERA JONES, EDNA and HENRY MCCLURE were in Dougherty. COX, OPAL BARKER, LOIS THORNTON, TOM THORNTON, ANNA LOU ROSS Sunshine News A large crowd of singers and Sunday School workers went to Russell Sunday afternoon to sing and hold religious services. Some interesting talks were made by REV. H. D. LOWE, STEVE LOWE, R. A. SMATHER,S W. H. WOODS, and C. L. GREEN from Sunshine. More talks were made by MR. RUSSELL, C. L. BRIM, and SAM WAGONER of Russell. After the crowd left for Russell, REV. WHISENHUNT of Chigley preached a fine sermon to the ones who remained. The Sunshine basketball team went to Chigley Friday and got defeated. Mr. and Mrs. ODUS GARREN spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. R. T. RAMSEY. VELMA SMITH was the Saturday guest of HENRYE RAMSEY. MISS WINNIE WOODS spent Thursday with MISS JOHNIE RAMSEY. ROOSEVELT MCGUIRE spent Saturday with JEWEL GREEN. We are glad to have Mr. and Mrs. HERNY SEAL enrolled in Sunday school. There was a singing at W. H. WOOD's home Wednesday. A large crowd attended and reported a fine time. MAT SADLER shipped 24 head of cattle to Oklahoma City. MRS. RUBY WITT and MRS. KORAH WITT visited their sister-in-law MRS. R . T. RAMSEY. JOHN SIMS of Tussy is visiting his daughter MRS. VELMA SMATHERS this week. JOHN SLAUGHTER of Smythe was the Saturday guest of his cousin, GEORGE SLAUGHTER. MISS JOHNIE RAMSEY spent Friday with MISS WINNIE WOODS. CLIFTON GARREN spent Saturday with JOHN FORD. MRS. M. A. GARREN had a very sick baby Sunday, but is reported s getting along nicely now. Hoover News The young folks of Hoover have been taking parts in Christian Endeavor at Woodland. MISS MAGNOLIA MYERS spent Sunday with MISS MEIRENA ANDERSON. MISS WILLOW DEAN MYERS was the Sunday guest of MISS LOTTIE BELL CARTER. MISS ELENA MYERS spent Sunday with MISS JENNIE LOU MYERS ALVIN BRYAN and RUFUS PARK spent Sunday with TOM ANDERSON. FLOYD LLEWLLEN and ELGIE ROZZELL from Graham were in Hoover Sunday visiting Floyd's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. MORRIS, and a few other relatives. EUGENE PERRY and MISS DESSIE COFFEE from Wynnewood came to Hoover Saturday after MISS TRESSIE MAY BRYAN on account of Miss Bryan's friend's death which was a terrible shock to the Hoover community for she was well known in Hoover and loved by all who knew her. EARL NOLAND, BILL BROOKSHIRE, and FRED HUDSON from Wynnewood were in Hoover Sunday. MISS MARY RUSSELL and MISS SMITH, Davis school teachers spent Sunday with their friend, MRS. CHAMBLESS of Woodland. There was a musical at Mr. and Mrs. ELMER CARTER's Saturday night. All reported a nice time. MRS. WINNIE PICKENS spent Saturday and Sunday visiting with MRS. CLARA BOX. Chigley News There was preaching here Saturday and Sunday by MRS. HAYES. There will be a box supper here at the close of the singing school and a program put on the by school girls and boys on Saturday. Sunshine came up to challenge us a game of basketball. They got defeated pretty badly. MRS. L. D. CLARY who is visiting her folks in Choctaw is coming home tomorrow.
