Ordinance 94, which prohibited fireworks within the city, and Ordinance 95, which imposed a $1 poll tax on males over the age of 21, were adopted. Editor Fay CROSSETT wrote: Let's quit saying what 'they' ought to do for Davis, and say 'we' will. Key WOLF spent the holidays in Davis. He returned to Norman to resume his studies. A pressing club and tailor shop were moving in next to First National Bank. RAINES and DIGBY succeeded Joe McADOO in the meat market business and planned to continue in the 'same old stand.' During the holidays, John BRYANT slaughtered a cow weighing 700 pounds, which he said was one of the best and biggest cows ever killed in the Choctaw Nation. CROSSETT wrote: 1906 will be a banner year in the town's growth. Nothing can keep us from plunghing forward. In a 'filler' in The News: RIches have wings -- and rich men may soon have flying machines." ------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Murray County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/murray/murray.htm
