With the electric line actually under construction and the absolute certainty of at least one steam line from the coal fields in the Choctaw Nation, it begins to look as if a local prophet knew in advance that Davis would really become the metropolis of the Washita Valley. Davis residents were preparing to vote on a water works proposal that would have two to three wells, a 125-foot stand pipe and about four miles of mains. The cost would be $25,000. Also, 40 fire hydrants would be installed. A mass meeting at City Hall was scheduled. A Volunteer Fire Department would be formed of 30 members to 'protect our homes and other property from flames.'
