JONES pointing to a rainbow). Editor Fay CROSSETT wrote, 'Eastern newspapers are printing articles about the wonderful caves in the Arbuckle Mountains around Turner Falls, and it is safe to say that the new motor road to the famous resort in the Arbuckles will do a thriving business when finished.' Crossett suggested those having vacant lots in town should put up rent houses, as there was no limit to the demand for such. A grand ball was planned for the opening of the new hotel. Commercial men were expected to make Davis and Turner Falls headquarters during the comming summer. W. I. MITCHELL, an old Confederate veteran with quite an honorable record, died in Sorghum Flat. The News was informed that Hutchins Bros. had ordered a hearse for use in Davis. 'A hearse is something that has been needed here, and the enterprising Hutchins Bros. see the need and will supply it,' CROSSETT wrote. The subscription to the $5,000 of capital stock of the new motor road to Turner Falls had been 'practically' closed up. The road was expected to pay handsome dividends. Two large motor cars with trailers would handle big crowds. Editor Fay CROSSETT wrote about the waterworks election: Gentle folks, if that election fails to carry, we are a ruined town. Don't sleep on your rights. Get out and work like you did the other time. G. P. DICKINSON announced for re-election to the office of assessor and collector. Postmaster RAMSEY posted a letter that said those leaving their boxes unlocked would not have boxes rented to them." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Murray County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/murray/murray.htm
