EASTER On Friday, July 28, JAMES J. EASTER, aged 65, died at Davis of paralysis. Burial took place at the Davis cemetery. He leaves a widow and eight children, all grown to adulthood. MRS. C. M. MAYES and MISS DELLA EASTER, two of the daughters, live in Sulphur. Mr. Easter's death was the indirect result of an accident which happened to him on last May 11. He with his son, JOHN EASTER, was thrown out of a buggy, and received a broken arm and severe injuries on the head. The son had a broken arm and leg. Mr. Easter was an old Confederate soldier having worn the gray for three years. He participated in the battle at Bunker Hill, Louisiana in which he was wounded in the head by a shot. The family is grief-stricken and the community laments the demise of a high-minded, respected, useful citizen. ROBERTS has been appointed city attorney at a salary of $25 a month. L. T. CONNALLY who has been in Ardmore for several months has returned to Sulphur with his family. Mrs. W. P. HEAD is in Terrell, Texas where she was called on account of the illness of her father. MISS ANNA MARR, assistant cashier at the Bank of Commerce, is spending her vacation in Chautauqua, New York. Fire early Monday morning destroyed the EMERSON residence west of the Santa Fe switch. Total loss. R. L. NEWMAN, superintendent of public instruction fro Murray County, is visiting in Middle Tennessee. MISS HESTER LAUGHLIN of St. Louis is visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. C. NATIONS. RUBE MARLOW returned from a business trip to West Texas and New Mexico. MAYOR D. J. KENDALL is in Oklahoma City where he has business with GOVERNOR CRUCE. Mrs. WARD and MISS DORIS WARD left the Mystic and went over the Orpheum. DEE WILEY has quit Allen's Pharmacy and gone to selling insurance. MISS DAFFOLLE (Daffodil?) PHIILPS who has been visiting Mrs. T. B. OVERTON returned to her home in Fort Worth. D. JANET JENKINS, chiropractor, has returned to Sulphur after an absence of two years and has opened an office next door north of the Palace Hotel upstairs, phone 120. Died on Wednesday night, Mrs. W. A. GARDEN, who had been ill for several week. The body will be taken to Valley View, Texas by her husband for burial. Mr. Garden has been employed at the Maxwell Trading Co.'s store. FRANK HOBSON and wife are at the Waverly. He is now a proofreader on the Oklahoman staff. S. BONNEAU and family went to Troy, Oklahoma where they will make their home. Mr. Bonneau has considerable land interests in that vicinity. FRANK CLARK has sold his black pacer, known as the Chidsey horse, to K. T. WILLIAMS of Milligan, Texas to which point the horse was shipped. Mrs. JOHN HASTE is making a trip through West Texas with her father and brothers who visited here recently. DUBERT ARMSTRONG of Norman has assumed management of the Mystic Theatre. W. D. HARMON has been appointed stenographer and steward at the School for the Deaf, succeeding MISS FIELD who was married here Monday. Mr. Harmon is now at his post of duty. State senator C. B. KENDRICK was over from Ardmore on Monday. He took occasion to visit the new buildings at the School for Deaf and hopes to interest the governor in the plan to complete the buildings already underway. Two peaches of the Elberta variety, each measuring 9 inches in circumference and weighing a half pound, grown on the resident lot of A. WALTERS at Sixth and Tahlequah, were handed into this office. Mrs. CALEB M. BALES and daughter, SARAH GLADYS, returned form their four week's stay at Sulphur where they had been drinking Sulphur Spring's health giving waters which greatly benefited Mrs. Bales' health. DELMER DUSKIN, a businessman at Guthrie, was, on Monday, July 31, united in marriage with MISS ELIZABETH FIELD, daughter of Mrs. FRANK FIELD at Sulphur. The ceremony took place at 1:30 in the afternoon and was performed by REV. A. D. WAUCHOPE. It was a quiet, simple wedding, the only out-of-town guests being a sister, Mrs. BOYNTON of Shawnee, and a sister- in-law, Mrs. WALKER FIELD of Pauls Valley. The bridal pair left on the early afternoon train for Guthrie. Mrs. B. S. HARRIS and Mrs. R. PHILLIPS were hostesses at a dance in the Pavilion last Saturday morning. Music was furnished by MISS VALVERDE JONES and Mrs. PHILLIPS. Mrs. WILSON say two numbers to an appreciative audience.
