Local Paragraphs Born to Mr. and Mrs. U. K. KENNEY Tuesday night, a boy. J. B. FULTON of Vernon, Texas is visiting his son, W. B. FULTON, assistant postmaster. J. M. LANKFORD returned from his business trip at Galveston. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. BOURLAND are spending a holiday at the old home place in Kentucky. JOHN HASSON of the Sulphur Dry Goods Co. left Wednesday for New York where he will do the bulk of his fall buying. Ten Nights in a Bar Room will be the feature at the Orpheum next week. MISSES DIXIE and ELECTRA MCPHERSON of Greenville, Texas are at the Waverly. They are here for a month's vacation. Dr. J. T. WIGGINS was from Oklahoma City in attendance at district court as a witness. Dr. C. M. BENNETT and family returned from their vacation in Colorado. D. SHELBY, district Indian agent, and W. A. BAKER, supervisor, were doing business in probate court this week. HOWARD 'CHICK' ROBERTS is home on a vacation. He expects to locate in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the place which cantaloupes made famous. Died on Thursday about 6:00 MRS. MOLLIE PERKINS, wife of WILL PERKINS. Services held this morning at 10:00 in the Baptist Church. L. C. PARKER, manager of the Star Mercantile Company, left Sunday for St. Louis and other markets to purchase his fall stock of dry goods and clothing. C. G. WHITE, cashier of the Park National Bank, returned Sunday from his vacation in Indianapolis. R. S. GOFFE was in Oklahoma City attending a meeting of the State Telephone Managers of whose organization he is president. For sale or will trade for in merchandise, 50 acres of fine land. Address T. W. POOL of Sulphur. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. DENTON of Afton returned home Monday after a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE W. DENTON. A. D. NOWLIN, the clothier, accompanied by his son JACK will leave for New York City and return via Chicago. Mr. Nowlin is recognized among traveling men as the 'best buyer' in this section of the country. He is a expert judge of fabrics and has unerring taste in styles. While on this trip, Mr. Nowlin will make his purchases of clothing and furnishings and it is safe to say he will get the best in the market. Sulphur has had social honors thrust upon her. On Monday of this week Oklahomans in Colorado Springs, about 700 of them, foregathered, reunioned and picnicked at one of the public parks. There was a formal program, the first number being a vocal selection by MRS. CLARA B. GAINES of Sulphur. Mrs. B. S. HARRIS was hostess to the Auction Bridge Club Wednesday morning. Three tables were played. The visiting guests were MRS. HARRY JOHNSON, MISS ASHCROFT, MISS LEACH and MRS. WILSON. The club prize was won by MRS. GEORGE SLOVER and the guest's prize by MRS. WILSON. Close of a Useful Life There died at Whitewright, Texas, August 2, MRS. C. L. TRUETT, age 82, maternal grandmother of our citizen, R. L. PENLAND, who returned last Friday from the funeral. The deceased had been married 60 years and is survived by her husband, 6 children, 30 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. All the children, all the great-grandchildren and 24 of the grandchildren attended the funeral.
