"Gullie" Austin Services for Arthur G. "Gullie" Austin, 77, Tatums will be held Thursday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church of Tatums with Rev. F. M. Lawson officiating. Interment will be in Tatums Cemetery with Fox Funeral Home, Davis, in charge of arrangements. Born Sept. 22, 1926 in Wild Horse to Jim Austin and Lillie Bell (James) Austin, he died Friday, Feb. 27 in Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore. He married Gertie Mae (Franklin) Austin on July 6, 1977 in Gainesville, Texas. He was preceded in death by one son, Roger Smith and 15 brothers and sisters. Mr. Austin lived in this area all his life and attended Tatums School. He had worked as a carpenter and later as an oilfield worker with B&B Tools in Ratliff City for 28 years. Survivors included his wife, Gertie Austin, of the home; one daughter, Nina King, Ardmore; two brothers, Bub Austin, Atlanta, Ga. and Don Austin, Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Dorothy Alexander, Duncan, Erma Jean Crawford, Los Angeles and Leta Fay Oliver, Tulsa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were nephews and flower girls were nieces.
