CHARLES E. AYERS "Funeral Services for Charles E. Ayers, 74, of Davis were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Finis Steelman and Don Griffin officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery with Fox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ayers was born Sept. 3, 1921, at Davis and died Dec. 11 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, Sulphur. His parents were Percy and Annie (Hunt) Ayers. He married Vida Ollige Gounah on July 31, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas. Ayers worked for Fox Funeral Home and the City of Davis as sexton of Green Hill Cemetery. He was a veteran of World War II, past president of Davis Kiwanis Club, and was retired from the Davis Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as fire chief. Survivors include a sister, nieces, and nephews (names withheld to protect the living). He was preceded in death by his wife in 1991, his parents, a sister, Effie Gargis, and brothers, Fred, Tom, Jeff, Ish, James and Ebb Ayers. Pall bearers were Randy Moore, Jerry Fullerton, Miles Judkins, Jimmy Dale. Shawn Tinsley and Howard Hanni.
