Memorial Services were held Jan. 4 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Baucom was born Jan. 19, 1926, to Agnes Avoyle (Howard) and Willie Roy Baucom at Burns Flat. He grew up in Ardmore and graduated from Ardmore High School. He met Carol Jean Inman, and they were married on March 20, 1948, in Gainesville, Texas. Baucom was a Merchant Marine in World War II. After being honorably discharged, he was employed as a serviceman with OG&E, retiring after 39 years. He also served for 20 years with the Davis Volunteer Fire Department and was fire chief six years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Davis and was an accomplished guitar player. Baucom always saw the best in people and was a devoted and beloved, gentle man. He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Emma Ruth (Baucom) Williams. He is survived by: his wife of the home; three children, Tommy Randall Baucom of Little Rock, Ark., Susan Nance of Ardmore and Adie Shell of Roff; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a special niece and nephew, Lynda Manley of Norman and Tanner Williams of Oklahoma City.
