James Swain, Rev. Junior Barton and Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Born June 20, 1913 in Springtown, Texas to James Henry Barton and Dorsey Savana Pearce Barton, she died Sunday, Feb. 28 in Sulphur. She was married to Roy Chester Benn in Ardmore on May 12, 1930. The couple made their home in Murray County, ranching and raising children. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She loved life to the fullest, whether it was rocking her grandbabies or going to the horse races. She was loved and admired for her gentle spirit, patience and devotion to her family. Esther said her greatest experience in life was when she was saved at the age of 12 at a revival conducted by her father, a Free Will Baptist minister. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by five daughters, Pam Barnes and her husband, Eldred, Hampie Sue Roberts and her husband, Owen and Debra Hall and her husband, Jerry, all of Sulphur, Janet Johnson and her husband, A.J., Oklahoma City and Dorsa Stidham, Tulsa; three sons, Gerald Benn and his wife, Charlotte, Tahlequah and Royal Benn and John Benn, both of Davis; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
