James Densman officiating. Interment will be Thursday, April 13 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif. with Krien Funeral Home, Davis, in charge of arrangements. Born May 24, 1922 in Woodland to Thomas Scott and Lillian Anne (Wells) Bumgarner, he died in Sulphur on Tuesday, April 4. He was raised in Davis and worked as a young boy on the Freeman Ranch. While in his teens, he and his brother, Kenneth, went to California and he was soon drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Alaska during WW II. He married Cleona Gray in Reno, Nev., in 1947 and the couple made their home in California for over 50 years. He worked for the Modesto Irrigation District and retired after 27 years of service. He returned to Davis after the death of his wife where he remained until his death. Surviving are two sons, Paul King Bumgarner, Jr., Waterford, Calif. and Charles Allen Bumgarner, Escalon, Calif.; one brother, Thomas Scott Bumgarner, Palm Springs, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Wimberly, Davis and Billie Joe Lindsey, Ardmore; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
