'Buck' Birdwell SNYDER -- Funeral for Wilburn P. "Buck" Birdwell, 92, Snyder, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Duree and the Rev. Joe Mack Floyd officiating. Mr. Birdwell died Thursday, May 27, 2004, in Altus. Burial will be at Rogers Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home, Snyder. He was born Jan. 24, 1912, near Davis. He grew up near Davis and moved to the Pleasant Valley / Otter Creek area, attending Pleasant Valley School. He married Margie Garrison on June 22, 1956, in Altus. He had farmed until 1950 and worked for Roosevelt Granite Company, until his retirement after 30 years. He had worked for civil service at Altus Air Force Base during World War II. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons: Jerry Birdwell, Mountain Park; and Larry Don Birdwell and his wife Debbie, Snyder; three daughters: Shirley Bradshaw and her husband Louis, Alexander, Ark.; Marquita Ritchoroen and her husband Charol, La Mirada, Calif.; and Lynda Jones and her husband Ronnie, Altus; two stepdaughters: Carolyn Buxton and her husband James, Huntley, Ill.; and Norma Lou Stewart, Altus; a stepson, Richard "Ricky Birdwell" Stewart and his wife Donna, Shawnee; two sisters: Lucille Thompson and Irene Fitzgerald; 20 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Jhonnie Sanders, Matilda Walden, Dollie Bacon, Dora Mae Welch, Dorthy Birdwell, Betty Lou Welch, Ida Inysinger, Marie Thompson, Charlene Manning, and Ruth Birdwell; and his brothers: Robert Birdwell, Melvin Birdwell, Leon Birdwell, Odell Birdwell, and J.W. Birdwell. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
