D. Wayne Loftin officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home of Davis in charge of arrangements. Born August 6, 1921 in Texhoma, Okla. (Texas County) to Harlan and Lena (Green) Burns, he entered into rest in Sulphur on June 5, 2006 at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 29 days. Eugene was one of eight children. He attended school at Greenfield, Oklahoma, and then joined the U.S. Army after high school. He was a member of the Army's well know 10th Mountain Division. He and Ruby Wheeler were married on December 21, 1946, at the Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He moved to Davis in 1951 to be a ranch foreman. Gene owned Burns Oil Company and was retired from the oil field. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; one daughter, Linda Readnour and husband, Gary, Pauls Valley; three sisters, (twin) Imogene Johnson of Pinehurst, N.C., Winefred Jones, Skiatook and Norma Kruta, Yukon; one brother, Joe Burns, Bethany; four grandchildren, Chad Burns, Liberal, Kan., Kevin Eugene Readnour and wife, Lauren, Keith Readnour and wife, Nikki, all of Pauls Valley and Kyle Readnour and fiancee, Melanie Reser, Oklahoma City; six great grandchildren, Malia, Graham, Garrett and Kendall Readnour, all of Pauls Valley, Connor and Cennedee Burns, Liberal, Kan. and many loved and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Randolph Eugene 'Randy' Burns, his parents, Harlan and Lena; two brothers, Warren and Dan Burns and one sister, Alice Dunlap.
