Cotter, 84, Sulphur, were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 at Oaklawn Cemetery with William Dean "Beau" Thompson officiating. Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur was in charge of arrangements. Born in Buffalo, Ark. on January 17, 1922 to Thomas Richard Allen and Menty Evelyn (Brewer) Vickrey, she died in Dallas, Texas on Friday, June 23. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hulen Cotter. Memorials may be made to the Harris Hospice, Inc, 3001 LBJ Freeway, Suite 105, Dallas, Texas 75234 or Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N. Born January 17, 1922 in Buffalo, Ark. to Thomas Richard Allen and Menty Evelyn (Brewer) Vickrey, she died June 23 in Dallas, Texas. Ruth grew up and attended school in Buffalo, Ark. Her mother passed away when she was young. She then went to live with her uncle. She attended school in Mill Creek and worked at the Thompson Ranch, first doing domestic work then breaking horses, as she preferred the outdoors. She later moved to California where she met and married Walter W. Thompson. She lived off and on in Sulphur area through the years. She met and married Charles Cotter and they made their home first in Sulphur then later El Paso, Texas and California. They returned here in the early 1980's. She had lived in Dallas, Texas the last nine years. Surviving are two sons, Tommy Dean Thompson and Charles Michael Cotter; one daughter, Luann Cotter Gutierrez; four brothers, Lester Vickrey, T. R. Milam, Lloyd Vickrey and Gene Thompson; three sisters, Juanita Thompson and Bernice Vickrey; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hulen Cotter; one daughter, E. Darlene Thompson Fogle Brewer; seven brothers; six sisters and a grandchild. Pallbearers were Dean Thompson, Mike Cotter, Beau Thompson, Derek Fogle, George Gutierrez and Jim Burk.
