Chambers September 7, 1939 June 28, 2001 Visitation: Mon. July 2, 3-8 P.M. Services: Tues. July 3, 10:00 A.M. Visitation for Wayne L. Chambers will be held at Basham Funeral Care on Monday July 2, 2001 from 3-8P.M. and funeral services will be held at Victory Chapel (800 Airport Drive) on Tuesday morning July 2, 2001 at 10A.M. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery. Wayne was born September 7, 1939 in Sulphur, Oklahoma and he passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2001, in Bakersfield. His father, Sherman Lee Chambers and his brother, Alfred Chambers preceded him in death and he is survived by his wife, Delores Dee Chambers; son, Terry Wayne Claus; son, Larry Jay Claus; daughter and son-in-law, Dionna and Kelly Dobbins; daughter, Laurie Ann Chambers; son, Tony Phillips; son, Larry Chambers; mother, Nadine Goodlin; mother-in-law, Burnice Howard; sister, Goldie Knowles; sister and brother-in-law, Vernon and Sue Chambers; sister-in-law, Linda Chambers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Charlotte Howard; 5 grandsons, Chase Dobbins, Kyle Dobbins, Cory Dobbins, Jory Chambers and Brandon Claus and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Wayne was a special husband, father and papa whom is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. His retirement from the Laborers Local #200 gave him time for his family, friends and hobbies. Wayne was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved and cared about. He was an avid fisherman with a passion for deep sea fishing, always going for that Jackpot fish. He had love of music and was blessed with a wonderful talent for guitar pickng. He was an active member of the senior citizens center and played lead guitar as a member of the Bakersfield Country Band. One of his missions in life as a yard sale and swap meet king was to find a bargain. Bargain it down and then sell it for more. Thats our papa! As a member of Victory chapel, his love of the Lord was shared with one and all.
