Her life and purpose was celebrated in remembrance at the Davis SDA Church Monday, October 3. She grew up in Columbia, Maryland and attended elementary school in Maryland, Sulphur and Durant. She completed her first year of high school by correspondence, in Europe with her mother, and at Hickory with her grandmother in 1979. She attended Selwyn, a private school in Denton, Texas her sophomore year, and graduated with honors from Plano High School in Dallas in 1982. She loved the pursuit of learning, sports, especially gymnastics, animals of any kind, and nature. Bright, vibrant, alive, and with quick humor, she explored at least 10 majors, up to declaration, at UTA; mostly by not showing up for class until exam times; -- trying to figure out what she wanted to do with her life and sleuthing through all the attractions of college life and living, meanwhile. She committed to a BS in nursing (1986-7) with a GPA 3.5; that grew into a complete commitment to her profession and family life. She joined the Bonham SDA church by re-baptism. She built (literally by her own hand) a large, self- sustaining farm utilizing renewable energy in Bonham, and directed her stepson into college at Greenville, Texas. She was loved by her co-workers in the Critical Care Unit at Medical City, Dallas, where there will be another memorial service for those, if you know who they might be, may want to attend. Call Dr. Carlson (580) 456-7462 for specific time and place. Survivors include her mother, Dr. Janet Carlson, Hickory; her father, Paul Duncan, Maryland; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Cheryl Carlson, Denver, Colo.; two nephews, Chad and Kyle Carlson and a niece, Annika Carlson. Clagg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Murray County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/murray/murray.htm
