Elliston Services for Samuel C. Elliston, 93, Sulphur were held Tuesday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the Clagg Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Neal officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Flag services were conducted by the Ft. Sill Military Honors Guard. Born February 24, 1911 in Muse to Joe Elliston and Lou Newman Elliston, he died February 26 in Sulphur. He married Rachel Collier Elliston on September 13, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas. A retired Sulphur Veterans Center employee, he had served in WWII with the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post for over 50 years and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He grew up in this area where he attended school. He retired from the Sulphur Veterans Center in 1976 after 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Rachel, of the home; one daughter, Jessie Lee White, Lemeta, Texas; one brother, Louis Elliston, California; two sisters, Anna Belle Neal, Sulphur and Verna Mae Shaeffer, California; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
