James Swain officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur, in charge of arrangements. Born May 29, 1918 in Stratford to Jimmy Levi and Martha Ethyl (Archer) Flowers, he died Friday, Oct. 20 in Sulphur. He grew up in the McGee and Stratford areas. He and Velma "Lorena" Dake were married May 15, 1941 in Sherman, Texas. The couple had three children. He worked at Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City and managed service stations in Britton and Shawnee. In 1947, he moved to Fresno, Calif. where he managed service stations and learned the upholstery business. He returned to Oklahoma in 1954, and began an upholstery business in Sulphur. He retired in 1970 and he and his wife traveled the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, shell gathering and metal detecting. He also continued upholstering at home. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Sulphur. Surviving are a son and his fiancee, Fred Flowers and Dixie, Sulphur; a daughter, Carolyn Bond, Tybee Island, Ga.; two half brothers, Vondel Flowers, Lake Texhoma and Kenneth Flowers, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Danny Lee Flowers and his parents. Pallbearers were grandsons Cory, Terry, Brad, Mike, Ben and Duriel Flowers and Jared Shores. Honorary bearers were great-grandsons, Spencer, Ike and Carson Flowers, Bryan and Tyler Bond.
