N. "Jack" Fentem, 76, Sulphur were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17 at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Rev. Emery Mason officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery with Criswell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born August 20, 1927 in Shawnee to Alfred Longley and Mildred York Fentem, he died Saturday, March 13 at a Conway, Ark. hospital. He lived in the Ada area most of his life. He attended Washington Elementary School in Ada and graduated from Ada High School in 1945. He was an All-State football player and was instrumental in the beginning of the Cougar football tradition at Ada High School and remained an active Cougar fan. He attended East Central University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He was the youngest person to pass all four Certified Public Accountant exams the first time and was the first Certified Public Accountant in Ada. He married Donna Rowton on December 17, 1949 in Ada. She died May 27, 1986 in Ada. He later married Norma Freeman in 1991. He was a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church, was on the Ada School Board for many years and was president of the board when Washington Elementary was built. He was former member of the Youth Shelter Board and former board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Ada. He served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Norman Fentem, of the home; three sons, Brandon Fentem and wife, Becky, Lindsay, Donald Fentem and wife, Tina, Bryant, Ark., and Jeff Fentem, Midland Texas; two step sons, Bobby Rose and wife, Doris Ann, Sulphur and Larry Rose and wife, Cindy, Edmond; a son-in-law, Alan Babb, Ada; one sister, Bette McSwain and husband, Foster, Coos Bay, Ore.; sister-in-law, Pat Fentem, Tulsa; and 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Edie Babb, grandson Jonathan Kit Fentem and a brother, Dick Fentem. Pallbearers were Brandon Babb, Michael Babb, Andrew Fentem, Cody Fentem, Scott McPherson and Charles Copeland. Honorary bearers were Jim Gassaway, G. C. Mayhue, Roy Hanson, Bob Walker, J. B.
