Allen Richardson and Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at the Dougherty Cemetery with Chaplain Steve Mahan officiating. Services were under the direction of Hale's Funeral Home of Davis. Born April 24, 1904 in Dardanelle, Ark. to William Noel and Ida Jane (Robinson) Hale, he died Friday, Dec. 15 in Sulphur. Edd and Vila Mae "Sis" Callis were married on March 14, 1938 in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shirley M. Ayers; one brother, Buck Hale; one sister, Alta Akers and a son-in-law, Andy Ray Beal. After graduating from Nebo School, Edd began a career working for the Santa Fe Railroad. At the time of his death, he was the oldest retiree of the company. After retiring in 1969 from Santa Fe, he spent countless hours on the farm. He enjoyed working in the fields and caring for his cattle. He was a true family man and nothing meant more to him than his wife, four children and grandchildren. He was the oldest member of the Dougherty Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann Beal; two sons, Mack "Sonny" Hale and his wife, Carolyn and Glenn "Diddle" Hale and his wife, Judy, all of Dougherty; one son-in-law, Joe Tom Ayers and his wife, Dana; Davis; one sister, Dollie Sherrill, Castle Rock, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Eddie Mosley, Karen Sosebee, Shane Hale and wife, Kim, Sunee Lynn Gibson and husband, Ryan, Rhett Hale and his wife, Becky, Brandy Claxton and husband, Keith, Bree Roady and husband, Justin and John Rheed Hale; six grandchildren, Ray, Riley, Haylee, Hannah, Mollie and Tanner and a special great niece, Sabrina "Brin" Seanor. Pallbearers were Eddie Mosley, Shane Hale, Rhett Hale, John Rheed Hale, Ryan Gibson, Keith Claxton and Justin Roady. Honorary bearers were Mike and Bobby Callis, Larry Hale, David Seanor and Jr. Williams.
