Rick graduated from Sulphur High School in 1962 and earned B.S. and Law Degrees from the University of Oklahoma, where he was an editor of The Oklahoma Law Review and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. He was an attorney for Kerr McGee and Tenneco, working in Oklahoma City and Houston. In recent years, his work had taken him frequently to Brazil. He was born in 1944, the son of D. B. Harris and Marna Ruth Riddell Harris. He was the nephew of Loma Jean Schooling, the former Sulphur High School librarian. Rick served in the U.S. Navy. As a boy, he lived in Columbia, Mexico, Brazil and seven states. Rick is survived by Carrol, his wife of 36 years; his daughter, Marna, a legislative assistant, in Washington DC, to Congressman Frank Lucas; his son, Guy, an I.T. specialist with IBM in Tulsa; his granddaughter, Skyler; his stepmother, Sylvinha Harris, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil; and his brother, Dee Riddell Harris, Phoenix. Rick was known for his ready smile and contagious laugh. He was quick to lend a helping hand and brought love and joy to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 555 S. University Blvd., Norman. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at (800) ACS-2345.
