All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Mildred Mae Rose Jones PAMPA - Mildred Mae Rose Bowers Jones, 86, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Panhandle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Leonard Harper, minister of the Church of Christ at Crosbyton, officiating. Eastern Star rites will be by Pampa Chapter 65 Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery at Groom. Mrs. Jones was born in Sulphur, Okla., and had lived in Pampa most of her life. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Pampa, of Pampa Chapter 65 Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Nurses Auxiliary and was a former member of the Lace & Leather Riding Club. She was a licensed vocational nurse at Highland General Hospital from the time it opened until her retirement in 1975. She married James Lewis Bowers in 1926. He died in 1952. She later married Alvin Lester Jones. He died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a son, James Bowers, in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Leona Stamps of Panhandle; a brother, Bobby Audrey Rose of Norman, Okla.; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center in Amarillo.
