Interment was at Dolberg Cemetery with Cowley-Krien Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. May was born to William Jackson Hembree and Birtha Lee Hinsley Hembree November 24, 1923 in Cooper, Texas. She died December 31 at Buford Manor in Davis. She married Eugene Collins in 1940 and Vernon Lawson in 1964. She was raised in Cooper, Texas and later moved to Sulphur where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husbands, mother and father; four brothers, George, Frank, Jim and Ben; two sisters, Effie Gordon and Minnie Wyse; one daughter, Bonnie Lou Penick; two sons, Harold Gene and Ted Allen Collins; three grandchildren, David Eugene, Donna Sue Penick and Robbie Gene Callis; and one great-grandchild, Tyler James Lamb. Survivors are six daughters, Margaret Lamb, Leta Castleberry, Peggy McCollum, Norma Akers, Brenda Moles and Ruth Ann Blanton; two sons, James and Lee Roy Collins; one brother, Johnny Lee Hembree; one sister, Mary Ellen Wiggins; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren.
