He was born on July 26, 1924 in Houston, Texas. Blackie was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His loving and positive spirit touched everyone he came into contact with. Blackie attended St. Thomas High School in Houston, Texas. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Mississippi in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. Upon completion of his military service, he then attended St. Edward's University in Austin where he graduated with a BS Degree in 1950. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Mildred Farquhar. They settled in Houston and began raising a family of six children. In 1968, he moved his family to the present home in Huffman, Texas. Blackie was instrumental in the growth of the Interfaith Chapel Ministries at Bush Intercontinental Airport. He also created the Board of Directors, on which he served as a member from 1985 to 2006. The Interfaith Chapel Ministries gives out a yearly scholarship in his name. He was also a Board Member and volunteer at KSBJ radio from 1984-2006, and a Board Member with Birth Right Humble from 1986-2006. His volunteerism extended to several area nursing homes, where he would entertain the residents with his virtuoso harmonica playing. His performances at the nursing homes began in 1982 and continued until illness prevented him from continuing this year. His entry into the Kingdom of Heaven was preceded by his daughter, Laurie Anne Lochridge. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mildred Anne Lochridge; brother, Thomas Roy Lochridge; children, Michael Lawrence Lochridge, Alvin, Texas, Gregory Paul Lochridge, of Highland, Texas, Timothy David Lochridge, Davis, Okla., Andrew James Lochridge and Mark Stephen Lochridge, both of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 13102 N. Frwy., Houston, Texas from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00.
