Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home. Stanley was born to John and Mary Ellen Ratliff Mayes September 17, 1923 in Shawnee. He died December 28 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur. He married Belva "Bea" Crary February 14, 1953 in Aklen, S.C. He was raised in Shawnee. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and served 6 years during WWII. He lived and worked in South Carolina after the service, then moved to Sulphur in 1954. He was a painting contractor and retired from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf after 25 years. Stanley loved to work on boats. Preceding him in death were his mother and father; one brother, Marshall; one sister, Margaret; and a son-in-law, Butch Saunders. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Cindy Saunders, Sulphur, and Marci and husband, Mark McNeill, Thomas; five grandchildren, Steve and wife, Jerri D., Sulphur, Jake and wife, Andrea, Davis, Shelby and husband, Jimmy Brown, Sulphur, Mason McNeill, Weatherford and Morgan McNeill, Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Allie, Hannah, Autum, Josh and Derek.
