"Son" McClure Services for James M. "Son" McClure, 79, Sulphur, were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment was in Drake Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born September 29, 1925 in Drake to James Robert McClure and Clara Ellen Brewer McClure, he died Saturday, March 26 in Sulphur. He married Ruth Hatfield on May 6, 1947 at Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2001. He attended school in this area and lived his entire life here. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps during WW II and returned here and entered a career in law enforcement in 1970. He was a deputy sheriff for Murray County until his retirement and a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dewayne Leming, Sulphur; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Wayne and Liz McClure, Sulphur and Paul Dwight and Betty McClure, Monmouth, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Chris McClure, J. J. McClure, Joe Leming, Ryen McClure, Paul McClure, Kalli McClure and Jeff Hagle; four grandchildren, Haden and Drake Leming and Presley and Payton McClure and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Kirby; three grandchildren, Michelle Leming, Bryan McClure and Matthew McClure and a brother, Billy McClure. Pallbearers were Jeff Hagle, Paul McClure, Jr., Joe Don Leming, Jay McClure, Wayne McClure and Chris McClure.
