Services are Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. at Faith Center Church with the Pastor Jerry Lemley officiating and Craig Lemley and Manny Cantu assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mentz was born July 14, 1948, in Sanger, Calif., to Bernard and Barbara (Kuykendall) Johnson. She grew up in Bakersfield, Atascadero and Templeton, Calif., and graduated from Templeton High School. She moved to Davis in 1971, where she lived until her death. She was the manager of the Salvation Army of Sulphur for eight years and enjoyed cake decorating. She was an active member of Faith Center Church for more than 10 years. She readily volunteered her time at the church information booth and for the bus ministry and distributed food for the Harvest Basket. She never said an unpleasant word about anyone. Mentz fought a courageous battle with cancer for six years, never complaining and always smiling. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by three daughters, Maelee Bolding of Davis, Alana Sherman of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alie Mentz of Sulphur; a brother, William Conn of Davis; a sister, Anna Gebhardt of Milwaukee, Wis.; four grandchildren, Brandy and Ethan Sherman and Marshall and Kavan Bolding, and special friends, Judi Row and Susan Hoyle. Pallbearers are Jim Row, Ken Hoyle, Jeff Saunders, Buddy Hankins, Bill Cupples and Fred Womack. Honorary pallbearers are Nolton Bull, Randy Wylie, Tim Lochridge and her church family. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
