Services were Dec. 28 at the First Baptist Church with ministers Thomas Thompson, Finis Steelman and Bob Bolden officiating. A second service was at the Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church in Mulberry, Ark., and burial was at Hight Cemetery in Mulberry. Mrs. Martin was born Feb. 12, 1928, and was raised in Mulberry by her grandparents, W.A. and Margaret Elizabeth Fisher, as the second youngest of 13 children, and graduated from Pleasant View High School. She moved to Davis in 1964, where she ran a restaurant on Main Street for several years before going to work for the City of Davis. She retired as a clerk for the water department in 1990 after 20 years of service to her adopted town. After retirement, she kept active as a foster grandmother for the Davis Public Schools, touching the lives of hundreds by assisting in Tammie Johnson's kindergarten class. She was a member of the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church of Sulphur. She is survived by her four children, Ronnie B. Martin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Marilyn Williams of Mustang, Deborah Saunders of Dallas and Billy Martin of Derby, Kan., a sister, Patricia Hicks, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother, stepfather, Howard Hicks, and Billy Clay Martin. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Shawn Martin, James Bart Saunders, Don Warner, Randy Reynolds, Troy BrogDen, Matt Bray, Josh Ketcham and Kevin Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to one of the following or a children's charity of the individual's choice: Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church of Sulphur, Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church of Mulberry, Ark., The Davis Public Schools or The Oklahoma Educational Foundation of Osteopathic Medicine.
