Eddie Malphrus and Rev. Terry Neal officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born July 19, 1907 in Mena, Ark., to Joe Elliston and Lou Newman Elliston, she died Wednesday, June 14 in Sulphur. She married Harce N. Neal on February 10, 1924 in Mill Creek. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1973. She spent her early years in Mena, Ark and Muse, Oklahoma, moving in 1916 by train to Mineral Wells, Texas. In December, 1918 the family moved by covered wagon to the Horseshoe Ranch, northeast of Sulphur. It took a week to make the trip and the family crossed the Red River by ferry. In 1923 they moved to the Fletcher community and in the spring of 1925 they moved to a Mill Creek area farm, living in a log cabin belonging to Harce's father. In 1930 the family moved to the Buckhorn area southeast of Sulphur where they raised cattle and operated a dairy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Home Demonstration Club. She loved to sew and quilt. Survivors include a son and his wife, Gene and Anita Neal, Sulphur; a daughter, Ludene West, Midwest City; five grandchildren, Ronnie West, Donna Miller, Debbie Watkins, Lanny Neal and Terry Neal; 16 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Elliston, Oscar Elliston and Lewis Elliston; four sisters, Birtie Smith, Genola Abbott, Winnona Weddie and Verna Shaffer.
