Private family services were Dec. 14 at the First Baptist Church in Dougherty with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Mrs. Pope was born Dec. 4, 1925, to Raymond and Margaret (Douglas) McBroom in Baylor, Texas, and grew up there. She moved to Ardmore in 1972 to be near her family. She met and married Corley White, and they were married 25 years. After his death, she married Arlis Pope. They had an auto salvage located in Sulphur and later in Davis. She worked for nearly six years at the Sweet Shop and two years at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Sulphur. As her Alzheimer's illness progressed, she lived at Burford Manor Nursing Home in Davis and Callaway Nursing Home. She loved gardening, her flowers and her poodles. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Davis. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sonny McBroom. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ford of Dougherty and Corley Sue James of Grants, N.M., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
