James "J. P." Quinton Services for Rev. James "J. P." Quinton, 67, pastor of the Way of Holiness Church, were held Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roff with minister LaVern Farmer officiating. Interment was at Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Born December 2, 1936 in Mountain View to Frank Kemp Quinton and Iva Mae Castleberry Ivie, Rev. Quinton died Thursday, Feb. 12 at Roff. He married Betty Lamb on March 22, 1958 in Sulphur. In addition to serving as a minister he was also a landscape designer. Rev. Quinton grew up in western Oklahoma before moving to Sulphur at an early age. He attended school in Sulphur and later served as pastor of the Way of Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald "Rook" Ivie and a granddaughter, Amber Quinton. Survivors includes his wife, Betty, of the home; five daughters, Vickie Spray, Byars, Elizabeth Buckner, Roff, Lisa Melton, Oakdale, Cindy Amos, Wynnewood and Rose Sumner, Sulphur; two sons, James Kemp Quinton, Roff and Clint Quinton, Wynnewood; three brothers, Joe Ivie, Fletcher, Walter Ivie, Borger, Texas and Cecil Ray Ivie, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, Clint Quinton, Travis Cooper, Davey Amos, Dustin Cooper, Falesha Quinton, Matthew Spray, Ashley Quinton, Christopher Quinton and Rachel Sumner. Pallbearers were Billy Lamb, Sam Lamb, Euel Lamb, Johnny Schultz, Sonny D. Riggle, Fred Lamb and Travis Cooper.
