Memorial services were March 7 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Ross was born May 5, 1923, in Sulphur to Dosha (Hern) and Thomas Ross. He graduated with honors from Sulphur High School in 1942. He served during World War II as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He and Norma Lee Hamby were married on June 15, 1944. They owned a grocery store in Stratford before going into the trucking business with his brother, Grady. Ross was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur for 66 years, having served as a deacon since 1965. He loved serving his church and enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and playing golf. He is survived by: his wife, Norma of the home; a daughter, Vicki Leonard of Oklahoma City and her husb and, Harold; a granddaughter, RossAnne Paige Munro of Brazil, Ind.; a great-granddaughter, Charis Micah Munro of Brazil, and a sister-in-law, Clarine Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers. Memorials may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Sulphur.
