Springer Jr. Former Davis teacher William "Bill" E. Springer Jr. died April 17, 2005, in Sulphur. His memorial service will be Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. at East Main Church of Christ. Pastor Dwight Brown will officiate, and burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Springer was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Davis to William Eugene and Iva Loreane (Willis) Springer. He graduated from Davis High School in 1954 and continued his education at the University of Oklahoma for the next three years. He graduated from East Central University and later received his master's degree from Texas Christian University. During his 42-year teaching career, he taught math, started the Davis High School Math Club, coached and was a school bus driver for 13 years. He received Davis High School Teacher of the Year three times, Murray County Teacher of the Year three times and numerous other awards. He owned and operated Springer Farms and worked seasonally as a park ranger for 24 years. He was song leader of the East Main Church of Christ for 30 years. He married Sonya "Jeaneen" Cunnius July 9, 1996, at Gainesville, Texas. His survivors include his wife, two children, Chuck Springer of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Julie Noland of Davis, and three grandchildren, Keith Garrett of Davis and Mark and Michael Springer of Highlands Ranch. Pallbearers will be Richard Digby, Billy Frank Warren, Eugene Vannoy, Buddy Allen, Edd McNeil and Jimmy Salter. Honorary pallbearers are L.D. Keenan, Len Keenan, Larry Keenan, Gene Willey, Kel Owens, Micah Noland, Mike Grider, Buddy Vinyard, Randy Moore, Hank Malone, Gary Parsons, Class of 1954, students he taught and coached over 42 years and Church of Christ members.
