The Rev. Lynn Phillips and the Rev. DuWayne Colvin officiated. Interment followed in Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Hale's Funeral Home of Davis in charge of arrangements. Finis was born May 1, 1931 in Honey Grove, Texas to John Richard and Eliza Ann"Dain" White Steelman. He died Tuesday, Dec. 12 at his home in Davis. Finis and Marge Fleming were married on December 23, 1950 in Walden, Ark. After high school, he attended Poteau Junior College and Central State College in Edmond. He later graduated from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Finis, a true "Country Preacher," preached for 49 years in area Baptist churches including Forrester, Pilgrim Rest, Hodgen, Hopewell, First Baptist Church of Davis and Beaty Baptist. In the past years, he served as Chaplain to the Oklahoma State Senate, President of the Davis Kiwanis Club and he served on the board at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City and Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur. He loved spending time on his farm caring for his horses and cattle. He was known for being "full of bull." Because of this his family referred to him as Chief Shoot'em Bull. He had a great love for not only his grandchildren, but other area children who referred to him as "Poppy." He is survived by his loving wife, Marge, of the home; two daughters, Judy Rushing and husband, Leon, Davis and Audrey Cole and husband, John, Beaumont, Texas; one son, Ronald Steelman, Davis; seven grandchildren, Amber and Cody Carter, Ritchie, Waylon and Bradley Steelman, Callie and Casey Cole; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Chief Steelman, Heavener and three sisters, Camilia Luman and Esther Ryburn, both of Heavener and Idabel Moody, Modesto, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pauline Rex and five brothers, Merrel, Hershel, Delbert Steelman and two infant brothers.
