Stanford Services for Raymond M. Stanford, 78, Sulphur, were held at Cowley-Krien Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Chapman officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home. Mr. Stanford was born to Alma Williams Stanford and George Stanford on December 31, 1924 in Sulphur. He died at his home on September 4, 2003. He married Ida Mae Wright on April 3, 1964 in Sulphur. He was born and raised in Sulphur and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1964. He was Calvary Baptist by faith. He was an electrician, City of Sulphur employee, retired security guard and Commander of the American Legion three different times. He collected trains and was an avid fisherman. Preceding him in death were one daughter, Sandy Hyatt; mother and father; three sisters, Lovina Stanford, Mary Ellen Stanford and Ruby Light; two brothers, Billy Joe and John Allen Stanford and a step mother, Ruby Grindstead. Survivors are his wife, Ida Mae, Sulphur; two sons, Willie Stanford and wife, Rasha, Sulphur and Louis Stanford, Sulphur; one daughter, Pam Miller and husband, Steve, Sulphur; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Stanford, Ft. Worth, Texas and George Stanford, Sulphur and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Claude Redmond, Jackie Watterson, Michael Watterson, Jack Watterson, Harvey Watterson, Johnny Watterson and Jerry Stanford.
