Sampley was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Baum to Henry Elias and Fannie Exie (Birmingham) Sampley and died Feb. 23, 2004. He moved to California in 1938 and worked in the oil fields and for steel companies. Sampley served as a missionary in Texas, Arizona, Mexico, Alaska and various parts of Europe, Thailand and Haiti and was a member of Camano Chapel in Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; his wives, Lucille Burman, Gloria Sampley and Thelma Maples Sampley; two brothers, Oakley and Henry "Jr." Sampley, and a half-sister, Victoria Carrell. He is survived by his sister, Myrl Collins of Sulphur; his children, Sam "Chris" Sampley of Camano Island and Wanda Flanders of Needles, Calif., and a stepson, Bob Burke of Lancaster, Calif., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
