Funeral services were June 18 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek with the Revs. Ronnie Payne and Daryl Patrick officiating. Burial was at the Corley Cemetery in Stratford. Samis was born Sept. 27, 1932, in Pickens to Frank and Myrtle Alice (Williams) Samis. He grew up in Pickens and attended Pickens Schools. He worked most of his life as a stone mason, and in his later years, was a bus driver for the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. He married Guylene Bessie Bailey on Oct. 13, 1998, in Gainesville, Texas, and they made their home in Sulphur. He was a member of the Bullard Chapel Baptist Church in Tishomingo. He is survived by his wife of the home, a sister, Azelle Vaughn of Mill Creek, and three brothers, John Samis of Sulphur, Harold Samis of Mill Creek and Wayland Samis of Cache, five stepchildren, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mary Haney, Dorothy Morris, Avis Samis and Lucy Samis, and three brothers, Lewis, Harry and Henry Samis. Pallbearers were Mashon Lowe, Bob Haney, Robby Haney, Tom Haney, Gary Dale Samis and Phillip Arnold. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Samis Jr., Donald Bruster, Kendal Jirtle and Jessie Machico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bullard Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund in Tishomingo.
