Surnames: Tilley Backus McKinney Originally posted at: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.murray/1932/mb.ashx Services for Esther Pauline Tilley, 93, Sulphur, formerly of Ada, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel with David Miller officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery with Criswell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Tilley died Friday, January 12, 2007 at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born February 25, 1913 near the Lightning Ridge Comunity, south of Ada to Herbert Charles and Dovie McKinney Backus. She graduated from Center High School and received a lifetime teaching degree from East Central State College. She taught at Parrish Chapel, a one room school where she taught 8 grades. Later, she was a houseparent at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, retiring in 1978. Survivors include eight sons: Dale Tilley, Ada, Richard Tilley and wife, Gwen, Houston, Texas, David Tilley and wife, Connie, San Antonio, Texas, Herb Tilley and wife, Pat, Azle, Texas, Gary Tilley and wife, Linda, Meridian, Texas, Max Tilley and wife, Sherry, Madill, Edward Tilley, Yukon, and Steve Tilley, Sulphur; two daughters, Margaret Tilley, Terrace Lakes, Idaho, and Mary Sue McGinty and husband, John, Yukon; an adopted daughter, Julie Astorquia, Terrace Lakes, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
