Wood Mildred E. Wood of Sulphur, Oklahoma passed away on December 22, 2004 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy & Karen Wood. Mildred was born on July 10, 1916 in Seiling, Oklahoma. She married Jack Gordon Wood on April 6, 1936 at First Baptist Church in Nowata, Oklahoma. Mildred loved to dance. She loved cats and would take in any stray that graced her doorstep. Mildred lived a long and full life surrounded by her loved ones. Her door was always open to family and friends no matter what the circumstances were. She could always be counted on to come to the aid of whoever was in need. She would give you the shirt off her back, if needed. Mildred was a very vivacious and strong woman. She would not hesitate to speak her mind or take up for herself or any of her family if the situation arose. She was an extremely religious woman and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was always making donations to Billy Graham and Oral Roberts. It was not unusual to walk into her ho! me and see her sitting at the kitchen table reading the Bible. She always told all of her children and grandchildren "Life is too short to stay mad. Be nice and forgive and forget." She was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all that they had accomplished. Mildred was a member of Shields Blvd. Baptist Church in Okla. City. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Gordon Wood, one son, Jimmy Gordon Wood, one granddaughter, Robin Renee Reid, and one grandson, Joshua Lee Wood. Her parents, one sister, and two brothers also preceded her in death. Mildred is survived by three children: Betty Israel of Yukon, Oklahoma, Delores Reid and Buddy Wood, both of Sulphur, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. She was our anchor and will be deeply missed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Murray County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/murray/murray.htm
