White Graveside services for Era L. White, 93, Sulphur were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 Megargel Cemetery in Megargel, Texas with Rev. Eddie Malphrus, Rev. Don Bergeron and Travis White officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Born August 23, 1912 in Megargel, Texas to Clarenece Lane and Minnie Ada Hilton Lane, she died Friday, Feb. 17 in Sulphur. She married Dennis E. White on Feb. 19, 1928 in Seymour, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2000. Mrs. White grew up in Megargel, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She attended Wayland Bible College. While in the ministry the couple lived in Sidney, Megargel-Friona, Plainview, Thalia and Hurlwood, Texas, Dove Creek, Colo. and Mosquero, Vaughn and Grady, N. M.. They lived in Stratford before moving to Sulphur in 1984. He pastored churches in Pauls Valley, Stratford and retired from the Central Baptist Church in Sulphur. The couple retired from the ministry in 1988. Mrs. White was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are a sister, Juanita Lane, Megargel, Texas; two nieces , Stormy Jo Eckles and her husband, Joe, and Sharon Lane; two nephews, Ralph Shawver and his wife, Sissy, and Billy (Pete) Shawver and his wife, Sandy, many grandnieces and great grandnieces and relatives of Mr. White. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, C.E.
