Willard McCartney, Jr. and Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with DeArman's Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A Sulphur councilman from 1994 to 2000, Bob died Thursday, Feb. 1 in Ada. He was 68. He was born May 30, 1938 in Clarita to Forrest C. and Lillie Mae Woodell. He married Mary Beth Chaffin in Sulphur on December 4, 1959. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1995. Bob moved to Sulphur as a child and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1956. He worked for the Wonder Bread company before opening a Sears downtown retail and catalogue store in Sulphur. He later worked at Best Buy in Ardmore and retired from that firm in 1997. In addition to serving as a Sulphur councilman, he was active in the Lions Club and served as a volunteer fireman and reserve Murray County deputy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was named Citizen of the Year by the Sulphur Kiwanis Club in 1985, becoming this city's first recipient of that award before it was formally introduced in the 1990's. Surviving are one daughter and her husband, Beverly and Brian Engleman, McAlester; one son and his wife, Mark and Wendy Woodell, Wayne; five brothers, Tom and Sue Woodell, Duncan, Billy and LaJuan Woodell, Whitehouse, Texas, Keith and Joyce Woodell, Terry and Terry Woodell and Kenneth Woodell, all of Sulphur; three sisters, Mae Williams, Sulphur, Margaret Gilbert, Odessa, Texas and Kathy and Jamey John, Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Erin Norton, Megan and Pat Smith, Mallory and Sammy Vanderburg, Tyler Woodell, Amanda Engleman, Rachel Engleman and Jacob Engleman and one great grandchild, Landon Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Beth and a sister, Linda Woodell. Pallbearers were Kevin Woodell, Rusty Gilbert, Todd Crumb, Jack Beaty and Russell Watson.
